This marks the end of the long-standing criminalization of cannabis consumers, and it opens a new chapter in drug policy.

Key Points of the Law:

• Private Cultivation: Adults are allowed to grow cannabis privately in limited quantities (up to three plants).
• Non-commercial Associations: Cannabis can be distributed through cultivation associations to adults for personal consumption in a controlled manner.
• Possession: Possession of up to 25 grams of dried cannabis in public spaces will be decriminalized. For private spaces the limit increases to 50 grams
• Minors: Possession of cannabis remains prohibited for minors. Special regulations apply to young adults with lower quantities and reduced THC levels.
• Consumption Ban: There is a ban on cannabis consumption in pedestrian zones from 7 am to 8 pm.

So, what doesn’t constitute a pedestrian zone (public street, or publicly owned park/facility) you may ask?

This can be in the privacy of your own home, your own acreage of land or that of a friend’s – But this could also include private property of a business which permits the consumption of cannabis on the property.
